100,000 Cat Celebration Clinic & Alumni Reunion

July 12, 2025

University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine

In 1998, Dr. Julie Levy founded Operation Catnip of Gainesville with a goal to increase lifesaving and control outdoor cat populations in her new Florida home. 27 years later, Operation Catnip is celebrating 100,000 sterilized cats, along with a legacy of training confident and competent future veterinarians, by doing what we do best: hosting a massive spay-neuter clinic for community cats!

Veterinarian Alumni Reunion

Training future veterinarians has always been at the heart of OC’s mission. We are delighted to welcome back alumni veterinarians to this special clinic with a variety of opportunities for participation, including performing surgery, coaching vet students, or helping in other areas.

With generous support from the UF Shelter Medicine program, Airbnb lodgings are available for up to 8 visiting alumni veterinarians! These spaces are limited, so please RSVP ASAP!

Volunteer

Operation Catnip has always had the most incredible volunteers, and we are delighted to welcome both new and returning volunteers to this special clinic event. For those who remember “the old days,” we know you’ll be blown away by the renovations at the vet school and our streamlined clinic flow process. And for first-time volunteers at the vet school, get excited for an experience you’ll never forget! With such a big day planned, there’s something for everyone!

Share your memories

We are collecting stories, photos, and other memories for a compilation slideshow and video project. We welcome your input!

Donate

Operation Catnip continues to operate as a donation-based service without set fees to caregivers. Your support helps us remain accessible to the cats and people who need us the most, and sustainable for those who need us in the future. We couldn’t do this without you!

Whether you’re a veterinarian who received valuable training at our clinics, a caregiver whose cats were eased by the burden of reproduction, a volunteer who discovered a passion for community cats, or a supporter excited to be a part of this incredible journey, we hope you’ll give generously to ensure OC remains a staple in our community for as long as we are needed.
